Premier tutoriel de matte painting sur Livings Tuts ! Je vais vous expliquer étape par étape la procédure d'un matte painting. Tout ne sera pas expliqué dans les détails à 100% (comme par exemple comment créer une ombre ou autre). Je vous suggère donc pour réaliser ce matte painting d'avoir de bonnes connaissances en termes de dessin et de maîtrise des outils. Je compte réaliser plusieurs tutos dans plusieurs styles tels que : Futuristic - Destroyed - Industrial - Volcanic - Night - Kingdom - Waterfall - Snowscape - Supernatural - Underground - War - Calm. Et aujourd'hui nous nous attaquons à un matte painting type “War”, précisément dans l'ambiance de la seconde guerre mondiale.

In this tutorial I will cover a process of enhancing footage to fulfill the needs of story. It all begins with the script that calls for some change in original footage. After agreeing that the best way to specific shot is to enhance it digitally, I start to create a concept of how to incorporate these enhancements in original footage. There are many small details that have to be overlooked for the purpose of a smooth compositing. First I have to think of a camera movements and composition. In my case, the idea to create a matte painting came before we started filming, so I didn’t face any problems related with an unexpected change of plans during production.

Ayant du temps libre, je vous ai (tardivement) réalisé un tutoriel sur le matte painting entre deux autres réalisations. Comme vous pouvez le voir, je vous montre comment réaliser des îles flottantes parmi les nuages (j’attends le jeu de mot avec “îles flottantes”, vous êtes prévenus !) ainsi que d’autres éléments pouvant être intéressants dans d’autres compositions.
